Do I need a H&S Advisor?

HSE says 'You must control the H&S risks in your workplace' and “As an employer, you must appoint someone competent to help you meet your health and safety duties."

My aim as a health and safety advisor is to act as your competent person in order to:

• Ensure your legal compliance
• Provide bespoke, practical and cost effective health and safety advice based on the significant risks your company faces
• Provide the best possible opportunity for you to ensure the safety and health of your staff and others affected by your business
• Embed health and safety into your business in a way that works for you

All advice is written and presented so that companies can use it. I strongly believe there is absolutely no point in creating an overly complex system no one understands and documents that sit in a file no one reads!

ASSESSING RISK/COST

How do I assess your risks? This is usually achieved with a site visit to look at the hazards associated with your business."

In consultation with you I would consider the significant risks, the chances of someone being harmed and how serious that harm is likely to be. I would consider the suitability of your current control measures and advise accordingly, putting in place any additional measures. All significant findings would then be recorded (if you have 5 or more employees or it is deemed necessary).

All advice is written and presented so that companies can use it. I strongly believe there is absolutely no point in creating an overly complex system no one understands and documents that sit in a file no one reads!

Due to the bespoke nature of the service site visits can be arranged weekly, twice per month, one day per month, or even as a one off.

The frequency of visits is flexible and is dependent upon various critical factors such as the risk posed by the operations, the facility, current level of staff training and competency, current status of SMS etc.

Frequency of visits will be determined after an initial assessment visit and there is no contractual tie.

My standard charge varies depending on a number of factors and starts at £350.00 per day or an hourly rate can be charged.

This includes the provision of all safety documentation, risk assessments, method statements. safe systems of work etc and reasonable telephone or email advice.

Training

My service also extends to training delivery, most commonly for:

• Fire Safety / Fire Awareness
• Fire Warden
• Health & Safety Induction Training
• Production (and if required delivery of) Toolbox Talks on a variety of subjects
• Manager Training to deliver Toolbox Talks

Although there are obvious common themes within training, all training packages are bespoke and tailored to your business safety needs.
